Applications to the London Health Accelerator for Social Enterprise are now open.
Delivered by the School for Social Entrepreneurs in partnership with Medcity, this exciting 10-week intensive programme equips participants with the necessary skills, mentorship, knowledge and connections to grow and scale their social enterprise while tackling health inequities in underserved communities.
The programme is tailored specifically for social enterprises working in or seeking to work in London’s health and life sciences sector, covering seven boroughs (Camden, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark and Tower Hamlets).
The programme consists of a series of in-person and online study sessions. Alongside these sessions, participants will receive:
1:1 mentoring support from experts in the health and life sciences space
1 x intensive business review panel (a business needs assessment and action plan)
Opportunity to apply for a £5,000 grant
Graduation and dinner networking event
The programme is accessible to senior leaders within an organisation. It doesn’t have to be the founder / CEO, so it offers an outstanding development opportunity to rising stars and emerging leaders within community health organisations.
The application deadline is Monday, 7th October, and SSE is running a taster session for interested applicants on Wednesday, 11th September. Full details are available on https://www.the-sse.org/courses/london-health-accelerator/
Where to find free mentors!
A great mentor can take your business into the stratosphere, while a poor one has the possibility of destroying it.
Here’s a video I made with Mark about the topic some time ago.
So, where to look for mentors:
There’s no harm in approaching someone from your sector that you admire. You’d be surprised how many successful people are happy to give back to someone in a much earlier stage in their business. You can try contacting them via LinkedIn or a mutual contact and see if they’re open to a short meeting.
Enterprise Nation in conjunction with BT & Google:
Mentors from BT and Google will share expertise and ideas on improving your digital marketing and social media strategies, becoming more discoverable on Search and more.
Get free mentoring through ABM:
The Small Business Research & Enterprise Centre has partnered with the Association for Business Mentors (ABM), a community of professional business mentors who aim to improve their professional skills. If you are trading and think you could benefit from a mentor, ABM offers our members four free sessions! If you’d like to use this offer, please email sbrec@cityoflondon.gov.uk. You can gain free access to the Small Business Research & Enterprise Centre here.
Free mentoring from Dell: Join the Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Network to advance your business by connecting you with resources and a community of entrepreneurs who will inspire you to grow personally and professionally. They offer free mentoring and support. You can register to join the Dell WEN here.
Until next time,
Suzanne & Mark
