How to stop being busy and start being profitable
And what you might be protecting yourself from by staying in motion
There’s a moment in the coffee and discovery meetings I have, where the client arrives prepared. I ask what are you up to at the moment. They tell me about their business, their meetings, their plans. And then, usually without prompting, they say it:
“I’m just so busy.”
It’s not said as a complaint. It’s said with a kind of quiet English pride. Like busy means a bonus. Like motion equals progress.
And then I ask: “What’s working best for you?”
And they fall into silence.
Not because they don’t care. But because they genuinely don’t know. They’ve been moving so fast, they’ve never stopped to look.
