Plus upcoming Moving Forward group, FREE workshops & 1/2 price annual membership!
Moving Forward Group Session
The next Moving Forward session is this Saturday, 18th January at 10 am. This is now a paid-for opportunity to get together with other former Startup School for Seniors participants and share your wins, ask questions of the group, or simply say ‘hello’. If you’re a paid-up Get Work Done Club subscriber, this group session is FREE. UNTIL THE END OF JANUARY, WE’VE REDUCED THE ANNUAL COST TO ONLY £49.99/YEAR (USUALLY £99.99).
Simply use the code you received in your Welcome email and if you don’t recall what it is, send me an email to suzanne@advantagesofage.com and I’ll share it with you again. Please don’t leave it to the last minute to do this!
For everyone else that wants to attend, the cost is £5. You must book a ticket to attend.
As 2025 comes around, I find myself looking at my bloated inbox and considering how I’m going to clear it. And every time I think about this, I break out in a cold sweat because I have been down this road before, typically the year before, trying to clear thousands of unread messages.
I have even gone so far as to purchase software that manages bulk unsubscribes, only to use it for a few weeks and then give up when I realise I’m not up to the task.
In the last Moving Forward group meeting, I asked the participants about 0 inbox and it was evident that I was not the only one with this particular challenge. Here are some tips from them:
Kate Sturdy
Develop the Yesterbox concept i.e. don't even try and keep up with today's emails. It's helpful because it stops you checking and dabbling as things come in. Instead, treat each yesterday as a finite in-tray. Combine this with immediate filing or flagging emails that need action, and moving everything else out into date-stamped folders.
Mark Elliott FRSA
Triage your inbox: meaning reply if less than two minutes work, file if you want to hold it for record, schedule the action if longer than two minutes or needs work to respond, and delete the reset (unsubscribing to newsletters if necessary)
With this in place, examine what is causing the build-up, and tackle the beliefs and behaviours that all this to happen
Patricia Gestoso-Souto
Disclaimer: I don't do 0 inbox. It stressed me out. Instead
1.- When necessary, I archive emails by date (e.g. per year) and use the search function to find emails.
2.- If when I receive an email I want to act on it, I choose from
- Blocking a time slot in my calendar to work on it.
- Use the google function "Snooze" to resend it to myself on a future date when I'll be handling similar emails (e.g. admin).
